Weather synopsis: March 12

2:50pm our streak of fair weather has come to an end as predicted with a substantial system affecting the Northeast. This storm system will produce flooding rains especially near the coast where up to 4.0" of rain is expected. The heaviest rain will fall Friday into Saturday then tapper off by Sunday. Despite the clouds and heavy rain high temperatures will remain in the 40°F range. Clearing skies will return by Monday and yet another fair weather week is in the forecast. High temperatures next week will range in the 50s with plentiful sunshine. Looking far ahead; NCEP forecast models indicate cooler temperatures will make a comeback with the possibility of wintry precipitation.
