Weather synopsis: March 31

3:09pm conditions are gradually improving in the Northeast as the storm system we've been dealing with exits the region. This storm system has produced an incredible amounts of rain. Officially 8.88" of rain has been recorded with this system in Suffolk County, NY. 6.18" of rain has been reported in Nassau County, NY and nearly 5.0" of rain elsewhere throughout the Tri-state. With this round of precipitation it will put March 2010 in the record books as the rainiest March on record for much of the New York Metropolitan area. The heavy rain produced a good amount of flooding. The Bronx River Parkway along with a number of other Highways where shutdown in both directions yesterday due to the flooding; in Long Island the high surf combined with the heavy rain produced coastal flooding and a lot of beach erosion; the persistent heavy rains along with 50MPH winds caused trees to topple, a slew of damage due to downed trees and flooded basements have been reported. Thankfully the Northeast is in for a streak of phenomenal weather for the coming days. High temperatures will range between 60°F and 80°F with plenty of sunshine to go along with the mild conditions. This is all due to a High pressure system that will move into the Northeast in the wake of the latest super soaker. The High pressure system will provide plenty of sinking air preventing any large mass of clouds from developing. The air flow will be from south to north and this will usher in the warmer temperatures. Highs will run some 20°F to 30°F above the average. The best weather is expected on our Easter weekend with Highs in the 70's and approaching 80°F in some locations. The fair weather should stick around through the beginning of next week, so go out and enjoy the sun; have a catch and enjoy a nice game of Ultimate Frisbee. This will be perfect weather for the start of Baseball season this weekend as the New York Yankees take on the Boston Redsox at Fenway Park this Sunday. Fair weather is also in the forecast for City Field's home opener as the New York Metropolitans take on the Florida Marlins on Monday.

Weather synopsis: March 30

11:05am portions of the Northeast are being soaked with heavy rain. The rain is attributed to a coastal low pressure system that has developed off the Mid-atlantic. This system will continue its track to the North as the day progresses. Rain will come to an end in the Tri-state area by mid afternoon but clouds will linger through the night. Tomorrow will shape up to be a better day weather wise but we cant rule out the chance for some sprinkles in the morning along the coast. Highs approaching 60°F tomorrow through out the region. Ample sunshine and moderating temperatures are in the forecast. Highs this week will easily approach 70°F making for a picture perfect Easter. NCEP forecast models indicate that this fair weather pattern will continue beyond the weekend.

Weather synopsis: March 29

9:10am the first half of the weekend proved to be spectacular despite the cold temperatures however, the clouds along with the rain has moved in yesterday and it will continue through Tuesday. The Northeast is likely to see chances of rain with the heaviest rain right along the coast. A storm system is working into the region; this system will redevelop off the coast and produce very heavy rain up and down the eastern seaboard with up to 5.0" of rain in the forecast from the Mid-atlantic coast north to the Canadian maritime. Flooding is all ready occurring; wind will will be an issue with a new low developing off shore, no doubt travel will be affected. Once this system pulls away we will experience the best weather of the year thus far. High temperatures will moderate considerably with 60's for Wednesday and 70's by Easter weekend. Expect ample sunshine with those temperatures running some 20° to 30° above normal.

Weather synopsis: March 25

10:00am after a quick break from the rain on Tuesday yet another storm system moves through the region producing some rain showers. Expect wet weather and chilly temperatures as an associated cold front moves through with the low pressure system. Tonight, expect the rain to mix with and change over to snow in to the interior of the Northeast. Tomorrow, the unsettled weather moves out and cold temperatures moves in. High temperatures will be in the 40's along the coast and in the 30's away from the coast. This weekend is shaping up to be a fair weather weekend with ample sunshine but on the cold side with temperatures in the 30's and 40's. A chance of rain returns Monday and Tuesday then fair weather is in the forecast after. Temperatures next week will star off a little chilly and should moderate by the latter portion of the week.

Weather synopsis: March 22

1:00pm rain is the name of the game across the region as a storm system works into the Northeast. This system continue to produce a steady heavy rain as it re-develops off the coast of New England. This storm comes a week after a super soaker caused rivers and stream to rise above their flood stage. Like the last storm system, this one will produce strong winds to go along with the rain. The rain should come to an end tomorrow. In the wake of this storm sunshine will return however, temperatures will run below average as a sharp quick moving cold front infiltrates the region with high temperatures in the 30's and 40's by early this weekend.

Despite the clouds and heavy rain high temperatures will remain in the 40°F range. Clearing skies will return by Monday and yet another fair weather week is in the forecast. Weather synopsis: March 5

1:37pm with the exception of coastal New England, the weather across the Northeast has been spectacular this past week with temperatures running right around average and plenty of sunshine. A pesky low pressure system has been plaguing coastal regions of the Northeast with persistent wind, light rain and snow over the course of the week. This low pressure system should pull away and in its wake some of the best weather of the year so far will move in just in time for the weekend. By the weekend a dry, southerly flow will usher in plenty of sunshine and milder temperatures. This streak of nice weather should reside through the up coming week. High temperatures in Buffalo will hover near the 40°F mark and approaching 50°F towards the latter portion of next week. As of late, there is no significant chance of precipitation for at least another week so enjoy the fair weather as we've had a rough winter this season.

10:15pm the weather is tranquil in the Northeast with light winds and seasonal temperatures. A weak disturbance will produce unsettled conditions Tuesday night into Wednesday with some rain and snow for portions of the region. By the end of this week temperatures will moderate to above average readings. High temperatures will approach 40°F in Buffalo this weekend and approaching 50°F in the Bronx. The upcoming weekend should feature fair weather and above average temperatures, however this stream of good weather will come to an end as another system looms in the horizon for the early portion of next week.
